Support Grand Canyon Art & Exhibit Venue
Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) has been raising funds for a dedicated art and exhibit venue at the South Rim through our annual Celebration of Art. The funds raised are a testament to the dedication and generosity of individuals who understand the power of art in preserving and sharing the legacy of Grand Canyon National Park.
Now, we are excited to announce that the park and GCC are ready to launch an effort to convert an existing building at the South Rim into an amazing art and exhibit venue! This location will be the hub of art activity at the canyon, displaying current collections and providing room for future acquisitions. It will also provide opportunities for youth education workshops, the Artist in Residence program, cultural heritage presentations, and special events.
Your contributions will directly assist us in developing this one-of-a-kind exhibit space for visitors at the canyon.
Imagine standing before a painting that transports you to the very heart of the canyon, where the strokes of a master artist bring its rugged beauty to life. Picture the wonder in a child’s eyes as they discover the intricate details of an ancient artifact, connecting them to the rich tapestry of cultures that have thrived on this land for centuries.
Grand Canyon National Park’s extraordinary landscape not only captivates our senses but also houses a treasure trove of art and stories that deserve to be shared with the world.
From Thomas Moran’s breathtaking depictions to the evocative works of Louis Akin and Gunnar Widforss, each brushstroke tells a story of the canyon and its unique habitats.

Framed print of a popular Louis Akin painting of the El Tovar hotel and Hopi House on the South Rim. Date: 1906.

Split-twig figurines. These figurines were made using split willow twigs carefully wrapped to depict sheep, deer, and other game animals.
Other objects and works of art tell the stories of Grand Canyon’s diverse cultures, flora and fauna, significant events, and innovative ideas that continue to inspire the world. The park's collection has over 1.6 million objects from seven different disciplines: archaeology, ethnology, history, archive/manuscripts, biology, geology, and paleontology.
Although a small number of works are on view at Kolb Studio, most of these treasures remain hidden away, tucked safely within the park’s Museum Collection, inaccessible to the curious eyes of everyday visitors. Grand Canyon Conservancy’s mission is to change this and ensure that these works find their rightful place in the spotlight.
Together, we can create a space where the canyon’s stories are told through the language of art and historical objects—a venue that will inspire generations to come.
